A new benchmark for Basing View
The new scheme, which has been launched by the borough council and its regeneration partner, Muse Developments, is targeting a BREEAM Very Good rating and will include air conditioning and LED lighting.
Located within a five-minute walk from Basingstoke train station and within the Basing View Enterprise Zone, new occupiers will benefit from business rates relief up to £275,000 over a five year period.
Essential levelling work on the land to enable construction work to begin has been funded by Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership.
Benchmark is one of a number of new developments at Basing View, including the new 60,000 sq ft Florence Building, a new business-class Village Hotel, the redevelopment of Norden House and a new pre-let 45,000 sq ft headquarters for international pharmaceutical firm, Eli Lilly and Company.
Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Property at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council Cllr John Izett said: “As we start the New Year, the good news for Basingstoke continues with the announcement of another new office building to meet the occupier demand that clearly exists for the town.
“We expect the transformation of Basing View into one of the Thames Valley's best performing office centres to continue in 2020, thanks to our ongoing work with Muse and key partners such as the Enterprise M3 LEP.”
Chris Scott, development director at Muse said: “It’s a proud moment for everyone involved at Basing View, as we take the next step on the journey to create a best-in-class commercial quarter in the heart of Basingstoke.
“The interest in Basing View has been outstanding, thanks, in part to our strong and open collaboration with the council, which blends a clear vision on what the community needs with innovative design. We look forward to welcoming new occupiers to Benchmark when the scheme completes.”
